Abstract

Notes taken by Cleora Clark Wheeler during lectures given by Frank Alvah Parsons at the New York School of Fine and Applied Art (later, Parsons School of Design), which Wheeler attended in 1912-1913. Also included is a set of bookplates, which was the focus of Wheeler's later career.

Cory Benett Bloomingdale's shopping bag collection

Summary

The collection consists of over one hundred shopping bags, primarily produced by Bloomingdale's department store and acquired by Cory Benett, a Bloomingdale's employee, for his personal enjoyment. The mostly paper bags feature art and design work by major designers, artists, and photographers of the late 1970s through the early 1990s. The collection also contains a small number of bags from other retailers.

Fernandez's portfolio of photographs of Martin Luther King, Jr., taken in the last year of King's life, Countdown to Eternity: Photographs of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the 1960's. Fernandez was founder of the photography program at Parsons School of Design, serving as chair from 1981-1994.

Dan Arje papers

Dan Arje (1923-1993) was a designer and display director for Bonwit Teller. The collection primarily consists of albums of photographs and news clippings about Arje's displays, and correspondence regarding his decorating work for the White House during the Kennedy and Johnson administrations, including decoration of the White House Christmas tree. Also present are materials about Bonwit Teller and Tiffany's designer Gene Moore.
